Abstrak


This study aims to improve speaking skills by using Picture Stories on class II students of SD Negeri Sirongo Folaraha, North Tidore District, Tidore Islands City, North Maluku Province. The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Based on the research conducted, in general the Picture Story can improve the ability of class II students of SD Negeri Sirongo Folaraha, Tidore Islands City, North Maluku Province to speak. Specifically the Picture Story method that is applied in the early stages and the learning process can provide the widest opportunity for students to develop their creativity in choosing and determining themes, topics, and background stories that are in accordance with their interests, knowledge and experience, and can frame story. Furthermore, at the stage when speaking or conveying the process goes well and dynamically. This can happen when students talk, making it easier for students to develop story ideas. Students successfully carry out speaking activities by paying attention to the forming elements of the story. Then increasing the ability of students to speak by using the method of pictorial stories, namely students can do can convey each story that has been compiled. Based on the results of the study talking by using Picture Stories, it is suggested to teachers who want to apply the Picture Story method to talking learning so as to provide maximum guidance and direction to students. The application of the Picture Story method does not curb the creativity of students in the work so students can develop ideas, thoughts, and ideas according to their interests, knowledge, and experience.

THE USE OF VIDEO TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ PRONUNCIATION AT SMA NEGERI 5 KOTA TERNATE

ABSTRACT

The objective of the research is to know the extent to which the use of video significantly improves students „pronunciation of homophone words at SMA Negeri 5 Kota Ternate. This research used quantitative research method by using pre-experimental design. Twenty respondents from XI IPA class of SMA Negeri 5 Kota Ternate were chosen by purposive samplingtechnique from the population. Before and after using video media the researcher gave the minimal pairs to the students. Then the researcher asked the students to read the underlined words of minimal pairs and the researcher recorded students‟ voice by using tape recorder. It was found that the use of video can significantly improve students‟ pronunciation. This was evident in the data analysis which shows that the t-statistical value(12.990) is higher than the t-critical value (2.539) at the significant level of 0.01. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (H1) stating that the uses of video significantly improve students‟ pronunciation is accepted, and Nul Hypothesis (H0) stating that the use of video does not significantly improve students‟ pronunciation is rejected.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas terjemahan dari bahasa Inggris ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui pengamatan dan content analysis melalui teknik catat. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penilaian kualitas terjemahan terhadap naskah Buku Teks dari bahasa sumber ke bahasa sasaran menghasilkan sebuah evaluasi karya terjemahan secara komprehensif atau holistik sehingga secara keseluruhan dapat disimpulkan bahwa kualitasnya masih dibawah standar. Artinya belum memenuhi aspek keakuratan, keberterimaan dan keterbacaan secara memadai.
